MacGuyver the Sumbitch
I just came across this pic I took after the Bradbury 12 race a few weeks ago. Its a shot of the light mount that Andrew put together for me as I panicked before my final lap of the race. It looks like a frickin mess but it was pretty secure. Unfortunately the switch has a loose connection somewhere so it kept shutting off but I still feel it was a fine use of about 50' of ductape.
This Sunday is the 138th annual Mike's Metric Mountain Mash (I made that up of course because we all know that Mike isn't a day over 100) and it promises to be even more epic than in years past. It's a (roughly) 100 k mountain bike ride which historically (and by historically I mean the years I've been able to do it. the person who writes the history controls the history) was held on mostly double track trails in the Newcastle/Jefferson area. Despite it being mostly double track and 4-wheeler trails, it was always a good time. This year, because Mike has moved to Camden, the ride is destined to be one of the most fun and painful days ever. By starting at the Camden Snow Bowl and it's rugged 100% singletrack trails and huge climb then moving to Pleasant Mountain with its climb and extremely bouldery trails and then moving to Dodge Mountain with its maze of pristine st filled with even more bouldery stuff and the ledgiest ledge imaginable, Mike has guaranteed that someone is going to cry before the day is done. My guess is that someone will be me.
You see, despite knowing full well that the ride will be super rough and technical, will include lots of steep climbing and will leave everyone begging for more travel in their suspension, I've decided to run the rigid El. and. I. don't. know. why. Logic would have me running the trusty Dos Niner but Mr. Logic has been trumped by Mr. Iwanttoimpressmyfriendsandhavesomethinggoodtoblogabout because, as you may have guessed by his name, Mr. Iwanttoimpressmyfriendsandhavesomethinggoodtoblogabout just wants to be able to impress his friends and have something to blog about. He's so predictable.
With Mr. I (that's what we'll call him for short) winning the battle for supreme idiocy, I'll be slinging the leg over the El and hopping to hell that I'm still able to take pictures (and walk) when the day is done or else all will have been in vain. You see, it's only impressive to do stupid things if you can pull it off, otherwise you're just stupid.
Woops, got off on a tangent there. My reason for this post was to give you the details of the ride (since it's open to anyone with a sense of adventure and a bike of course). The ride is this Sunday leaving the Camden Snow Bowl parking lot at 8am. It'll be a semi supported ride and will pass a couple of stores so bring some grub and water (not a full days worth though) and a few bucks to pick up nibblers along the way.

Shitstick! I REALLY wish I could ride this someday. You are a total nutjob for riding the El. Although I see the logic, you want to maim yourself for not riding so much.
so come on sunday. you can do it!
It's not ghetto. It's custom.
Nice light job. Whatever works dude.
Sounds like a sweet ride. Make sure to take pics when you start crying.
